FM says “Eventful Day” of ASEAN Meetings Before Pchum Ben

Phnom Penh: Foreign Affairs Minister, Prak Sokhonn has released the outcomes of what he’s describing as an “eventful day” of no fewer than three ASEAN meetings on Monday 4 October, just before the three-day Pchum Ben holiday.

He says at the 24th ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting, “I commended the progress of the APSC Blueprint implementation, our ongoing efforts to uphold human rights, especially those of our migrant workers, and looked forward to the cooperation between ASEAN and UNICEF on vaccine provision.”

The Foreign Minister then attended the 30th ASEAN Coordinating Council (ACC) Meeting, where he “expressed my sincere optimism in our collective journey toward recovery and, as we begin to devote more efforts on public health emergencies and emerging diseases, I believe that we would be better prepared for the future.”

His final meeting on Monday was the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM), which he says addressed key issues facing the region. He says, “I took the opportunity to share some insights on Cambodia's experience in national reconciliation and peacebuilding. I also accentuated the utmost importance of peaceful and constructive dialogue.”

Cambodia is engaging in numerous ASEAN-related meetings over the coming weeks as it prepares to host ASEM13 on 25-26 November ahead of its taking over the chairmanship of the regional bloc for 2022.
